Strictly Come Dancing star Johannes Radebe has been inundated with messages of encouragement from his fans after revealing significant personal news. While actively preparing for his return to the popular BBC One show, Johannes has shared an update about a major step in his life, unrelated to the dance floor.
Radebe, along with his fellow professional dancers, is deep into rehearsals for the upcoming series of Strictly, which is set to begin airing on September 14. The group has already filmed the pre-recorded launch show, which took place on September 4.
However, outside the dazzling ballroom, Johannes has embarked on a different journey. Last year, he published his memoir, JoJo: Finally Home, a deeply personal account of his life. Recently, he announced that this memoir will be adapted into a feature film.
In February, the news first broke that a film based on Johannes’ autobiography was in development. It was revealed that Johannes himself would be choreographing the film’s musical numbers, though it will not be classified as a traditional musical. A screenshot of this exciting news was shared by Johannes on social media, where he expressed his delight. He wrote: “Lights, camera, action! I’m thrilled to share that my memoir, JoJo: Finally Home, is being turned into a movie.”
He further elaborated, “Part of the film will be shot in South Africa, and it will follow my life’s journey, from my childhood to the bright lights of the ballroom. The movie will celebrate the incredible people in my life, for whom I am eternally grateful. Expect plenty of great music, stunning dance numbers, and fabulous costumes. Grab your popcorn – this is going to be quite the experience!”
In a recent update, it has been confirmed that a production company has officially acquired the rights to adapt his memoir. The film will be produced by Argo Films, known for their work on Disney+’s The Shepherd starring John Travolta, along with Arrested Industries and Helena Spring Film.
